Roy Lichtenstein, next to Andy Warhol, is considered the great artist of the Pop Art Movement. Lichtenstein received his M.A in 1949 from the Ohio State University. He worked in the commercial graphic business for a while, making designs and decors, and then he moved to teaching at different universities.
Lichtenstein was an abstract expressionist at first and he was still an unknown artist. The radical change in Lichtenstein’s career occurred with his first painting in the style of a comic strip, a painting of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.It is said that he painted it for his kids who had triggered him by telling their dad that he could not paint as good as the drawings in comic books. So it may have been his own kids, who are responsible for Lichtenstein’s art move and fame.

Lichtenstein became fascinated with this form of art and continued to work with comic strips for the next ten years. He is famous for his use of Benday dots, just like in one of his most famous paintings Drowning Girl, to create comic strips and advertisements for products. He also used stencils to remove visible brushstrokes and to create the illusion that his artwork was made by machine. He used dynamic bright colors and thick bold lines that portrayed reality as it is seen through mass media and photography. Lichtenstein’s unique artistic style of using everyday ideas from commercials and advertising has made him into one of the most famous Pop Artists.

Ive never heard of him before. His art looks like it would be fun to design a studio with.
